Don't know that particular engine, but it's pretty much going to be either Aircon pump pulley, power steering pulley or alternator pulley. If it's the alternator one, then driving around all night with lights on isnt a good idea.

Never seen a pulley do that before, that's a hell of a fracture.

Am I correct in thinking that you took that picture from underneath? I.e. the picture is actually up-side-down?

I've just gone out and had a look at mine for you. I'm afraid that belt is your main auxiliary drive belt and the pulley that has broken is the main one straight off the engine that drives the belt.

I definitely wouldn't drive it, it's staying on at the moment but I guess it won't take much for it to pop off. And if it comes off you will have no power steering, alternator or aircon (if fitted).

    Sorry

yes think you need to turn your head to the left to get the correct angle! was in a hurry and just held the camera under the front drivers wheel. but it is the big pulley in there. does anyone know how big a job it is to fix??

The good thing is at present you have no damage apart from the pulley.
I would not be driving that, only to have it fixed & then very carefully hth .............

According to Mr Haynes it's :
    1. Jack up and put front end on stands.
    2. Remove RHF roadwheel.
    3. Remove undertray (10 bolts).
    4. Remove remainder of crankshaft pulley/vibration damper (4 bolts and slide off).
    5. Fit new crankshaft pulley/vibration damper (slide on then 4 bolts).
    6. Refit aux drivebelt (new if old damaged) - Note correct direction of rotation.
    7. Reassemble undertray (10 bolts).
    8. Refit roadwheel and ground vehicle.

Doesn't look a hard/long job assuming you have the tools and can get a new pulley quickly.

You are actually quite lucky that it has stayed on the damper. The grooves in the pulley are where the multi V belt normally resides.
