    Default Signum Seat Help :)

Right so I'm buying andymagee's full leather signum seats and door cards and picking them up this weekend, but not totally sure on how to remove everything. Quite a few questions, hope you guys can help

First I unplug the battery for 30mins, right?
Then front seats just have a torx screw at each end of the rails, unplug wiring and then just pull them out? Also, the new seats are heated - if I have the sockets behind the switch blanks in my dash, does that mean I can just stick the dash switches in and where the new seats are wired up the heating will work automatically, or do I need to take out the loom from the other car as well and refit the loom in mine?

Rear seats seem a bit trickier, they have torx screws at the front of the rail and then a bolt on the back? Does the middle "seat" bottom need to come out, or can you just take the top part out?

And how do you remove the door cards?

Thanks for any help people can give

You don't need to disconnect the battery, I never do when my interiors get stripped out for re-trimming. Just don't switch on the ignition when the seats are out or the airbag warning light will come on.

To remove the fronts, remove the plastic trims, undo the torx bolts at the back of the seats, no bolts at the front the runners have locators that slide into place.

Then unbold the seat belt and un plug the seat looms and remove the seat from the car. Re-fit the Elite leather trim in the reverse of stripping. As the Elite has the heated seat's. They will only work if your car has the loom from the X Plug in the kick panel either side. This is something that cannot be retro fitted later. You may may be OK, depends on the year of your car. Fit everything and see if they work.

All dash's have the same loom so yours will have the plugs, either located in place behind the blanks, or tied back behind the dash somewhere, but more than located in the right place.

The rears are just as easy, remove the plastic trim. Undo the front torx screws, then fold the rear seats flat and you will see the rear torx screws, undo them and unbolt the seat belts.

Under the rear seats is another plug, this is for the curtain airbags. Undo this and simply remove the seats.

You should get the lot out in about an hour.

Maverick, you missed a bit! lol. The middle rear seat is all one piece (it's an "L" shaped frame. Two bolts (one either side) at the back of the seat (you'll see them better when you remove the two main rear seats), and two bolts on the floor, hidden by a flap of carpet, then the whole thing lifts out.

Is there an easy way to check for this now, or is it easier to just leave it and find out when I put the seats into my car. Mine's a '56 plate if that helps diagnose whether mine's likely to have the loom.

Also, does anyone know how to remove the door cards?

And do you guys think all the seats and door cards will easily fit in the boot with my current seats down or should I take my rear seats out first to make sure they all fit in?

The age of the car is irrelevant its the trim level and wether it was deceided that the car should have heated seats or not and it also depends on the other extras you have from factory as to whether the right harness got installed or not, if you want to check take out a seat undo the plug and see if your floor socket has more wires than the wires in your seat plug.

If the interior is from a pre-facelift then the door cards will not match up to the dash on your facelift car. It will look very odd as the silver dash trim is designed to match up with pre-facelift cars. When your trim finish's on the dash.

Regarding the body loom. On facelift cars, body looms are pretty specific to the model and options.

    A) If your car is a standard model with no otpional extra's then it is doubtfull you will have the heated seat looms.

    B) If you have options like PCD and AFL etc, then the loom is normally the fully equipped loom.

Once you remove your seat, look in the plug connector on the car floor, if you have just two terminals in there, these are the airbag terminals and you won't have the wiring for the heated seats. If there are more terminals then you will be fine.

And if I don't have the loom it's as difficult as near impossible to remove the loom from the other car and fit it?

Is the only difference between the pre and facelifted door cards the trim strip? As I might get it wrapped in carbon fibre effect vinyl like I saw another user did in a thread recently.

Yes as it is the main body car loom but you could add the extra wires tricky but not impossible.

The seats and door cards are easy to remove and if you need a hand I can nip over and help, the seats should fit as I got my SRI interior in my Veccie with the seats down.
