Default Had a quote for DMF and clutch, advise please.

Hi guys i need to get my DMF and clutch changed as my veccy is verging on undriveable now!I have priced the parts myself which are pattern parts (sachs, luk)and getting an indy garage to fit them will come in at around the 1k mark prob a bit less.I have just had vx on the phone and they will do the lot with genuine parts for £1200 and for this i will get a years parts and labour warranty and it will be done buy mechanics that have done the job before. So is the dealers price similar to what any of you guys have paid,i think paying the extra 300 or so for vx would prob be the best option as if the jobs not done right or it fails again i will have a leg to stand on getting it sorted.Whats your opinion?

    Thanks in advance Stuart.

Very expensive, even from your indy..... mine was £850 all in (with master and slave cylinders too) when mine was done middle of last year from my local garage, and I'm sure I have seen people get it done for less since then too.

How did you manage that as £580 dosent even cover the cost of the flywheel from my stealer! The problem is that where i live there are alot of garages that cant be trusted and the only indy i use isnt to keen on doing the job thats why i am considering using vx.

Two things to bare in mind: Firstly, your indy isn't keen on you supplying the parts, he'd rather get them in and make a bit on the mark-up; secondly the price you've been quoted from Vauxhall for the parts is the retail price - no one in the trade would pay that, they'd pay Vauxhall the trade price, which on some parts is 50% of the retail price.
