Damn *******s...they knew the sensor would fail yet they don't offer it as a separate part...only as a whole throttle body!
yep, the really annoying part is that the sensor has 2 screws fastening it the throttle body and takes literally minutes to remove, the sensor is not listed as a seperate item, downright rip off if you ask me.
here's the sensor
What was the symtoms of the throttle body fail,
I'd have been tempted to just take one from a scrappy's for that!!
Which engine is this from? The throttle body looks the same as a DTi but the sensor looks different.
it's 04 2.2dti, the symptoms were spanner light, limp mode, had codes read came up po638 throttle position sensor would go sometime days with no light sometimes weeks, when it happened the diaphram on the other side of the throttle body would lock in the up position and when you flexed the sensor back and forward it returned to normal this has gone on for months so finally bit the bullet and got a new one heres another pic of the sensor. already tried scrappers, non around in my area.
That is odd. I have a January 2003 2.2 DTi and the sensor on mine is Bosch and is held on with one bolt (underneath the sensor). I needed a new sensor and it cost a few pounds under £50 from the local dealer and fixed my 'boost pressure out of range' issue which a clean of the old sensor hadn't done.
I do remember you asking about this sensor recently, but I didn't realise you meant this boost pressure sensor (or even this engine) because the one on mine is a Bosch not Elobau. I can understand Vauxhall sourcing the same part from 2 suppliers but not having 2 parts that have different fixings.
i think you may be talking about the turbo boost sensor which is the one to the right in my first picture which is bosch and has one fixing, the one that was faulty was the one to the left of the picture, i think vaux changed the set up, i went to a scrapper near me who said he had a 2.2dti but the throttle body was different to mine and i think that was a 2002 model. incidently i now have 2 spare good turbo boost sensors as i renewed one whilst doing the trial and error thing and the new throttle body came with one fitted.
