    Default Stealers having a laugh!!

I got my car booked in at the stealers to have a couple of electrical gremlins fixed before the warranty runs out, the light control unit no longer lights up so you can see the switches in the dark. I took the unit out but its impossible to get in , also the glovebox light only works if you give it a wack as it has faulty catch.. although i can live with that,. The stealers have told me the warranty does not cover anything like this and neither does the network queue cover.. A new Control unit £67 ..thats unfitted although you can fit it yourself in 5 minutes.

Is this right or are they just trying to make more money.??.

seen one on ebay for £35.

    Cheers All

    Sadly that is correct
They only cover complete part failure

The light control unit still works, only the illumination has failed (classed as a bulb)

The glovebox is still fixed to the body, the latch has not failed

The light switch price is almost what I paid, plus one hours labour
However as with any such parts replaced but not paid for under warranty I ask for them back
I have now fitted replacement bulbs so I have a spare in case they go again

    Thankyou for explaining much appreciated.

I have managed to fix the glove box light , however may try scrapyard for the light control unit..

On the back of the original switch there is an Ident number (usually a yellow or white sticker). You have to get another set with the same Ident number otherwise they tend not to work correctly

Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?
