Default Px value - Signum vs Vectra

Was just curious whilst browsing the Vx site and got a valuation on my car (figures are for PX at a dealer).

My 03 Signum Elite 2.0T with 43k came out as.....

    Part-exchange Price:
    Excellent condition: £8260
    Average condition: £7450
    Below average condition: £6640

More curious, I got a price for the closest Vectra I could...

    03 Vectra Elite 2.0T with 43k......

    Part-exchange Price:
    Excellent condition: £6830
    Average condition: £6120
    Below average condition: £5370

I wondered if the Edition 100 may be any different. It was - even less!

    Part-exchange Price:
    Excellent condition: £6760
    Average condition: £6050
    Below average condition: £5310

That's a difference of £1500!! (based on excellent condition).

Is this because the Signum is holding it's value better, or because the Signum would have had a higher purchase price to a comparable Vectra? I have a feeling it's the latter? - or a bit of both?

Think it's a bit of both to be honest. But I would think the Signum would lose less due to the fact that there are not so many of them about, thus keeping the price higher.

When I spoke with my local dealer, they said they would never sell a new Signum in a month of Sundays but had a waiting list of people for secondhand versions, such is the demand.
Fleets are buying Vectra's but not Signums, strange but more fool them.

That must be a contributory factor then - the fact that fleets aren't buying them and flooding the market with used ones, driving down the price.

It will be down to the fact that Signum has a higher retail price, but........

Actually go to a dealer, and Signum is valued less in most case's than the equivelent Vectra purely due to the fact Vectra's sell better the customers looking for a 2nd hand car.

The dealer I got my vec and astra from said much the same. Infact when I bought the astra I asked about a signum and was told that they had never sold one, new or used. They had two on the forecourt a few months previous and had to ship them off to other dealers in the group cos there wasnt any interest. I think alot has to do with vaux not really advertising them to the general public. The vectra will always advertise itself due to the name, but the signum is new, (the only vaux not ending in "a") and I think vaux have tried to target the fleet market and "forgot" about the private buyer.

It seems to me that more companies are going the car allowance route over the company car route, so mayb things will change in the future?
