Misfiring?

Can anybody help me out? I have a 1.8gts and it feels like its misfiring. There is a slight decrease in power in all the gears and the emissions light is on. I've checked and regapped the plugs,i've checked the leads for splits and i've checked the air filter and pipes. I know i could take it to a garage and get it fixed, but if its simple and i could save a few quid i'd do it myself. Please and ideas before i loose patience and take the 12bore to it!!!
