Default Squeek eek eek eek (blower)

    Hey guys,
Either some sick person has trapped a mouse in the vents of my car. Or the fan has started "squeeking".

Noticed it yesterday. Got in the car. Turned key to let the glow plugs warm up and was treated to a nice Squeek eek eek eek noise (like an aux belt slipping...but engine not turning over). Turn fan off and noise stops, turn fan on and it's back but stops shortly afterwards.

Is it gonna die? Or will it squeek away happily for the next 12 months (when I'd be flogging it anyway).

    Cheers!

Mine's been doing this for at least 12 months, although intermittently. Sometimes for days on end sometimes only for a brief moment. VX investigated but funny old thing, no fault found. Hasn't packed up yet!

As I HATE squeaks, I would probably put a couple of drops of oil on the bearings to try to reduce the noise. Or I'd give it a sqirt of WD40 if you can't get at it with a small dropper.

Well that's good news it's not a sign of imminent death. Hopefully it's more intermittent than constant!

Exactly my intentions until I took the glove box of to get to the motor. It's very well built in there, quite an undertaking to get it out I'd say!

spray wd40 down the hole where the pollen filter, put heater on and set it to the floor, put paper down while you do it, and you will be sorted

I wouldn't remove the blower assembly if at all possible. You can reach the top of the assembly through the pollen filter aperture.

Interesting. I might look in to that. Although having to clear out all the coffee cups, muffin wrappers, and general detritus from the footwell to put some paper down seems a bit of a pain.
