Default Problems mostly sorted but tyres....

Ok, had most of the problems now fixed on my Insignia but overall the quality of the car is very poor. Still a few annoying issues, but that said I still like it.

What's surprised me though is the tyre wear. 2.0 Diesel Elite with 18" 245/45 r18 wheels and with various options including flexride.

Only done 11500 miles, but the tyres were down to less than 3mm. Had a slow puncture in one so lease company got ATS to replace the tyre, but they replaced the wrong one so ended up with both replaced. Putting the puncture to one side, I still expected a lot more than 11500 miles before they were down to less than 3mm. Thank god I don't pay for the tyres, had a quick look online and it looks like they are around £180 per tyre fitted!!

Had the same thing, just under 12k and a pair of fronts on my elite with 18's.
I put it down to getting stuck on black ice and spinning the wheels but maybe they are just soft compound tyres as a few other collegues have had quite poor mileage out of their tyres.

Mines currently at the stealers getting the drivers heated seat fixed, only took just under 3 months to get the bits.

14K miles from "original" front tyres sounds quite normal
The trick is to swap the rears to front and fit the new tyres on the rear, this will even out the change intervals to about 10K miles

You dont say anything about tyre brand and model. There is huge difference from model to model. Here in Norway, on the Vectra's with 17", mainly you find Continental ContiSport 3 fitted as standard, and so was on mine. The performance is extremely good, but I weared them to "nothin" in approx 11.000 miles. For me this kind of performance is far away from what I need, so next time Ill stick to a bit narrower tyres, and I will look for brands like Michelin's economy-range, who is known for longlife tyres with more than OK performance

Mods: I polished it in september...

Yes, this was an observation I have made in the past
Continental are medium priced, but are expensive at cost per mile as they do not last very long

Most Insignia have Michelin tyres, but knowing what is fitted would help

It had Bridgestone tyres. New tyres are Pirelli P ZERO.

Also, had to get ATS to balance the wheels twice as first tyre change introduced a really bad vibration.

In for a service tomorrow. Didn't expect that either at 11.5k. Seems like it would be an expensive car to own.

Shame really, as when its going ok its a great car, but lots of problems and expensive to own

    Ouch!

I have the Conti Sport Contact 3's now, and the grip, even in the cold, is amazing compared to the previous (very hard) Conti Sport Contact 2's.

It sounds like there will be a price to pay for that grip - hopefully I can stretch them a bit beyond 11k - I'd be happy with 15k.
