does what it says on the tin mate ..!! it catches oil that is in the breather system allows the engine to breath and not let the oil back into the engine ...it is mainly used on race / high reving engines it has filtered down into the chav tuning world debatable there a good investment for a family run around .....

I had something similiar installed on my old 1.8 Vec B as a recall - the crack case breather had a small pipe that went in to the cam cover at the top and they fitted a wire mesh in a plastic bow in between the two.

I'm not sure what the point way, as the cams are coated in oil anyway, but if it was done as part of an engine detail and fitted in with the rest of the bay, it wouldn't do any harm...

Better off spending an extra 30quid on V-Power fuel rather than these mate

I really couldn't recommend this part for any performance / durability improvement on a normal road car. The breather system of all cars already includes an oil mist separator in some form, and are fairly effective - with the captured oil returning back into the engine either by dedicated pipe to sump or simply running back down the breather pipe.
Even if a little oil is burned in the power cylinder, I can't see it being significant and most oil is low SAPS these days anyway - so low ash and residue. Ingested oil from the CCV (crankcase ventilation) system is only ONE route for getting it in there - valve stem leaks, cylinder wall hang-up in the honing, oil scrapper bypass etc etc etc

I would say that they are not worth the money for their primary function, BUT if you want one for other reasons (eg looks etc) then that's up to you.
