    Default Bad news

Following on from http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96932 I received a letter from my insurance today, stating that I was liable for the crash, I can highly see my insurance rocketing so looks like the Vec's gonna have to go on renewal (August) . They sent me a letter stating that i'm at fault for moving lanes saying I moved into the fella's lane who crashed into me, even though I didn't, and it's his word against mine with no independant witnesses. It wasn't so long ago that they sent me a letter saying that the third party is ready to pay for the damages as i've been waiting for 5 months for the fella to sort out his ****** crash forms. I feel like i've been robbed in this situation and i'm really not happy about it, but these are the kinda things that I was warned about when passing!

I know the feeling - a few years back I had a bloke try to undertake me on a narrowing bit of road, he ran out of lanes we collided side to side - he claimed I overtook & pulled in on him which was a load of BS - the insurers & solicitors decided his story was much more likely & found me at fault Grrr

My duaghter was hit as she went round aroundabout by a bloke skipping across lanes to exit - he again told a load of lies & she was found to be at fault - life can be a *****

I'll just have to see come time, i'm only 18 with 1 years NCB so I can see it going pretty high with 0 NCB. Wanted to get another vec on renewal, a diesel, all gone to **** by the looks of things now though I think it's really unfair what's happened, but at least I know **** like this has happened to other people on here, very bad times indeed!

I know what you mean about being young. I got mine a few months ago when i was 19. It seems to come down a bit when you reach 19 for some reason as my vec is cheaper to insure than my 1.4 polo was!

Same thing happened to my wife for an accident in November guy going to fast on a roundabout hit the wifes car he didn't even want the details as it was his fault never the less the insurance company deceided my wife is to blame and they won't fight it so bang goes at least 2 years no claims plus the excess of £350. They say we can fight it at our expense but they won't so that says a lot to a court and the CAB reckon we will just be throwing good money after bad. Doesn't seem fair as we don't have a say insurance companies will only fight if its cut and dried and because we didn't have any witnesses its tough luck.

He's never admitted liability, it was something to do with his witness getting in touch, and him being late with the forms aswell. What I don't get is none of my witnessess has had the questionare, which is why I'm baffled :/ it ****es me off how **** like this happens due to other **** drivers.

It's is precisely for this sort of thing that following an RTI one year ago, I now have a camera mounted in my car. Too many people 'don't want to get involved' so with the camera footage, even if the 'event' isn't captured I can still prove my road position, road and weather conditions, my speed, any signage and my general driving.
Now it's their word against video evidence.
