Default 3 Peaks and 8 Freaks - The 3 Peak Challenge!

    Hi guys,

I thought I'd take the liberty of posting this on here - apologies if this sort of canvassing isn't allowed......but it is for a very good cause!!!!

On Friday 23rd June, myself and a colllection of work colleagues and friends will be setting out from London City Airport up to Edinburgh for a weekend to complete "The 3 Peak Challenge" to help raise money for the "Shooting Star Children's Hospice" for terminally ill children.

    http://www.shootingstar.org.uk/

"Shooting Star House Children's Hospice gives care and support to children and young people living with a life-limiting condition and their families. With 10 children's bedrooms, 6 Family Rooms and facilities including The Hydrotherapy Pool & Spa, The Multi-Sensory Room and wet and dry play areas, we offer a "home from home" environment to families who find themselves in the most unimaginable circumstances. With no statutory government funding, the £2.5 million required each year to run the hospice, comes from charitable donations and fundraising."

The 3 Peak Challenge is an event in which the 3 highest mountains in the UK, (Ben Nevis, Scotland. Scafell Pike, England and Snowdon, Wales) are scaled within 24 hours. Enclosed are the routes which we will be taking (not sure yet with Scafell and Snowdon).

Our team called "3 Peaks and 8 Freaks" consists of the following members:

    Grant Burchill
    Noel and Kate Parkin
    Anhik Miah
    Nancy Walker
    Ryan McFadden
    Siobhán Kane
    Christian Huber
    (Rob Mackay - driver!)

Please feel free to pledge or sponsor as you so wish. All donations are so greatly appreciated.

To pledge or sponsor online http://www.justgiving.com/three_peak_freaks

Thank you so very much in anticipation for any amount and best wishes received!!!!!

    Grant.

Cheers, I love rambling up mountains, and when my work colleague (who has done it once before) mentioned it I jumped at the chance!!!! I've yet to scale Ben Nevis and Scafell - we're all praying for good weather at the moment just so we can see just how beautiful the UK is!!!!

I can't wait, but I know it's gonna be a killer! Especially as I have to be in work for 0630 Monday morning!!!!!

Tip for you mate, slowly getting back into exercising myself now but if any of you have a dog, bring it with you. Nothing motivates you more than seeing it run up and down each mountain 6 times as much as you walk it

I did this last year, but in reverse, Snowdon, Scarfell, Ben Nevis. did it in 23hrs 45mins.

We had a minibus 2 drivers and 8 walkers. Both the drivers where buding rally drivers which helped greatly as this gave us more time to climb

Take a look at my website http://www.justgetoutandride.co.uk/ and follow the links to the National 3 Peaks challenge for photo's, GPS data, and a story of the walk.
    Couple of things

Above all though have fun and even of you don't achieve it in 24 hours you will still have a huge sense of achievement.

    Good luck
