wheel refurb

Looking into getting my snowies refurbed can any one recommend any where within reasonable travelling distance of Bristol. I have seen the mobile chaps that come and do them at your home but a little concerned about the type of job you would get from the back of a van.

the likes if wheel worx and wicked wheels - which are van based repairs are very very good and potentially the cheapest option - especially if they compelte the work "out of hours"

I had mine done by a supposedly reputable company that does a mobile service and they didn't look good. The surface damage (stone chips and very light scrapes) was gone but the paint finish didn't stand up to inspection. Perhaps I just chose a dud company.

If the finish had been better, I would have stuck at that, but they didn't look good so I reluctantly got them re-done at http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/ and they now look better that they did new! Because I wanted to keep the original metallic finish, I got 3 coats of paint - the standard flat, then the metallic, then lacquer so they look great and hopefully I won't get any problems with corrosion for a long time. They're really easy to clean too - dirt just washes off with normal car shampoo, so no need for alloy wheel cleaner at all.

my wheels are booked in at wheelspecialist 5th feb. The examples they had on site looked great.

Previously had mine done at total wheel works, but within 4-5 months the powder coating looked appauling.

I hope they look good when done. I was pleased with mine.

They give a 1 year guarantee so you take them back if anything relating to the workmanship or materials goes wrong with them in that time.

just had a quote back from them saying £400 does this seem right to you,as it seems a bit high to me thats for for 19" snowies kept to original spec.

You can get a standard quote for wheels up to and including 17" from The Wheel Specialist website but anything over that requires a custom quote, so I don't know how much they charge for larger wheels as mine are standard 17" ones.

That doesn't sound bad if it's for a proper full refurbishment on 4 19" wheels. Perhaps you could get a quote from The Wheel Specialist and see how it compares?

Had mine refurbed by the wheel specialist in Brum about 12 months ago. They did a great job and to this day the wheels still look like new, even after the last few weeks of commuting 140 miles a day on salted roads. They've opened a branch in South Wales now so only about an hour drive for you. Cost me £287 all in.

Would have thought if you were paying £400 for a refurb you might as well sell your snowies for £600 and buy a spanking set for £1000...

they currently have an offer on of 20% offer, but i think it was limited spaces.

My 19" VXR with discount come to around £290, thats powder coated in anthracite

Normal price is £365 they said
