    Default newbie questions

hey guys first of all can i thank you all for a warm welcoming to this site, now onto the newbie questions i have about my car its a 58 plate vectra 1.9 ctdi design with 16k on the clock, i do alot of mile around 700 per week and im wondering how often should i get it serviced is there a function on the trip computer that tells you when it needs one? also i have quickly glanced at the handbook but dont quote me on this, i was reading the computer will also tell you if there is anything wrong with the car ie lights out, drop in tyre pressure is this true? also on cold mornings when i start the car up to me it seems alittle juddery for 20-30seconds might just be me been crazy but would this be normal?

again thanks for any help given

Probably around 20k mate for services,
Yes it will tell you any warnings, bulbs, engine levels etc etc,
Will only tell you tyrp pressure if the tyre pressure sensors are fitted
    Also welcome here mate

Hi and If your car is a diesle, the car will be a bit juddery at first during cold weather as the glow plugs will take time to warm up more than if it was mild out! i remember someone mentioning that on here. As mine is petrol, I don't have that problem, but I'm sure if I'm wrong, someone will correct me!!

The word "InSP" should briefly appear in the odometer reading instead of the mileage when you first turn the key as a service reminder time.

    Mentioned somewhere in the handbook.

The official service recommendation is on Vx's website:

    2006 onwards

    Petrol / Diesel

Interim Service Interval = 1 year / 20,000miles (whichever comes soonest)

Main (Fixed) Service Interval = 2 years / 40,000 miles (whichever comes soonest)

    In other words,
years 1,3,5,7,etc it's the interim service.
years 2,4,6,8,etc it's the main service.

Oil should be changed yearly or every 20,000 miles (whichever comes soonest)

yep can agree with that , i have put a dtuk tuning box onto the 120 and massive difference on acceleration in particular mid range and the biggest plus - more mpg !

Welcome m8, i got a 120 with a DTUK eco 3 green box....They can be adjusted, they are pricey but you get what you pay for, 3yrs warranty and you can take it off and sell it on if you ever change your car.....People have mixed feelings about boxes and they prefere remaps, but each to there own.....As lonfg as you dont drive like a boy racer and foot to the floor all the time you will be fine....I think mine is spot on i also fitted the K&N pannel filter....Hope this helps with your choice.......
