Default Mobil 1 5w50 for high mileage V6CDTi - yes or no?

    Hello there!
Just ordered 8L of Mobil 1 5w50 Rally Formula oil

I currently have GM LL 5w30 in but I find the engine louder (when warmed up it's clapping a bit) than with 10w40 oil.

Your thoughts on the 5w50 oil?

Doesn't mention 5w50, but the Mobil 1 5w50 meets Vx specs for oils.

    Default

5W50 is not API or ACEA compliant

Compare the specifications between 5w30 and 5w50

    http://www.mobil.com/Canada-English/...il_1_5W-30.asp

    http://www.mobil.com/Australia-Engli...bil1_5W-50.asp

5W50 is vastly thicker, as can be seen by the CST and higher viscosity rating
    Personally I wouldn't use it

What about the latest GM-LL-A025 and GM-LL-B025 specs? They're what I always check for on any oil that I buy.

If you have the correct viscosity, Mobil1 exceeds the GM-LL-A/B025 standards.

    I guess that's why the Mobil1 5w50 doesn't appear to have GM-LL-A025 or GM-LL-B025 approval on it.
