    I'd much prefer a Vulcan going vertical any day though.

    I think ive seen one of those vulcans at Southport one day. Rolled up to go to the cinema to find out there was an air show going on. It was pretty damn cool

    I can only assume they're sensors mate, but which will aid the aerodynaics slightly. You see them on airliners but they're there purely to reduce drag.

    I won't insult you by explaining them...

    To be honest the whole aerodynamics of the MRA4 were so badly thought out that there's no way they'd have added them for just that reason, and it has a long enough endurance by itself already (AAR probe not being qualified as it outlasts the crew on internal fuel alone...)
