air in fuel system

i have a vectra c 2.0dti 2005

i didnt use the veccy for 3 days last week and yesterday when i come to use it it was just turning over not fireing, i tryed for 30 mins and no joy so i called the aa out took the an hour but i kept trying but i gave up because i was scared that i woud **** the pump up, the aa arrived and within 10 seconds of him turning up it started, i new all along what it was , air in the fuel system , i know it common on the diesels but what do i need so this dont happen again is there a 1 way valve i can fit so diesel dont go back to the tank?


also i was talking to him and he said hes never hurd that the pumps go on these DTI's

And on what pump do you mean by this: i was scared that i woud **** the pump up

It's the diesel pump. If there is no fuel being pumped through it then it will be running dry which will cause excessive wear. It uses the diesel as a lubricant.
