Hi there my 2.0 dti Signum has just been taken away by the rac for a broken front spring drivers side.
I am informed that you have to change these in pairs while I await the quote what price would be fair to pay please if anyone could guide me?

Firstly, you don't HAVE to change in pairs. And to be honest, if the one that isn't broken is perfectly serviceable, then I see no reason to replace it. That is my personal and professional opinion.
Genuine front springs from the dealer are around £160 a pair, and they only sell them in pairs.
There is a very good how to on here to change them yourself. I bought one for mine when it broke and paid about £35 delivered. I then changed it myself. I only changed the one.
If you are in any doubt as to the condition of the non broken one, or it looks damaged, excessively corroded etc etc etc, then change it too.
Lower it...
'How to' discussion thread linky - the 'how to' is linked from this page, but the discussion is useful on this one.

I replaced mine at the weekend because one snapped. Went for some pi springs as i got them for about £90 from POTN so it seemed silly as i too was quoted £160 ish from the dealers. When I replaced the "non-broken" I found that it had snapped as well! Glad i changed all four in the end.
I have genuine vxr springs for sale for 60 quid, for the 4 of them if your interested?
Go with aftermarket springs, they last a lot longer than VX's 30k miles.
I've only had one fail in over 130,000 miles.
Both my springs went yesterday on the motorway and shredded both front tyres. In the garage just now getting it done.
Dread to think the cost - springs, tyres and recovery.
I would always change both springs to be on the safe side, as a used spring would tend to be softer or just plain worn. It could be that the new spring you are fitting has a slightly different rating, you never know.
3.2 v6 Signum and loving it 😁
