Default Been offered a straight swap on my vec, what do you think?

Ive had my car for sale for a couple of months on various websites and on here and i have had an e-mail asking if i want a straight swap on a year 2000, BMW 323i, E46 salloon in alpine white. Apparerntly FSH and 86000 miles, looks o.k, Half leather, 18 inch Alpina alloys etc etc.....i do have some pics but it wont let me upload on here (invalid file)

mines a category C write of 1.8 facelift 55 plate, no history what do you think?

Engines were okay with very few problems, no cambelts to worry about either. That generation of BMW's were prone to rust around the wheel arches so worth checking its not been patched up in those areas. Ensure no whine noises are present, car should be almost silent even at that mileage, certainly may be worth exploring especially with FSH.

a 2000 model is getting on a bit, but a good one in decent condition do drive very nice indeed, and I've seen some nice examples. There is quite an age difference though between the vehicles and only you can answer whether its worth it, could be one way of moving your cat-c car, but bear in mind that BMW service costs etc are not cheap.
For example the air filter for my E90 BMW is £54 (cheapest) where it was well under £20 for the vec-150 I had.

Also the big question remains, why HE wants to swap it, if it's such a good car.?

He just sent me an e-mail saying he wants to swap because he wants a diesel? i have just informed him ever so gently that my car is a 1.8 petrol!

If mine had been a cdti it would have been £500+ more

I said i valued his car ar £2800 -£3000 and my asking price is £3800......says he wants a straight swap only. So as you can imagine the deal will not go any further.

Well I,d value the BMW as worth more than the vectra and yours is a Cat C which will make it even harder to sell ....get shot if the beemer is better then sell the beemer simples
