Default Received parking ticket - I no longer own the vehicle

I part ex'd my car back in December. I sent of the log book to tell the DVLA but havn't heard anything back. I was told to wait 4 weeks before phoning to check what was going on as it can take 4 weeks to process it, especially over Christmas.

Today I've received a parking ticket through the post from UK Parking Control LTD (cowboys?) claiming I owe them £80 for parking in Ashton Moss leisure centre on the 17/01/10.

Where do I stand legally with this? As far as I'm concerned I sent off the form to notify the DVLA, so no longer have any legal right / claim over the car.

easy!, send them a copy of your bill of sale with a note explaining time and date you sent off to dvla, or and also contact dvla to gain info to forward in with bill of sale.

Tell them that you are no longer the legal owner and that in order to extract the fine from the new owner you will need reimbursement of any solicitors fees that you incur and that you need £300 down payment to proceed.

dont pay it, let them take you to court, and let a magistrate decide! SOMEHOW DONT THINK IT WILL GO THAT FAR, SO LONG AS YOU CAN PROVE WHEN YOU SOLD THE CAR. My moto, dont get caught up in red tape, its far too sticky

If DVLA thinks you still own the car in their eyes YOU DO

I sold a car got a speeding ticket sent the receipt of sale which they declared was not proof the car had been sold. The only prove you have is the letter they send you to tell you have been removed without that confirmation letter you have hell of a fight.

I had to physically track the guy down and get him to write a letter as the bill kept increasing and they started to add court costs

Bottom line do not ignore it, contact them tell them the situation and offer to help as much as you can because they can be a pain in the arse

It turned out to be a sytem error on their behalf but they treat every case as its your fault

You need to send the DVLA a letter advising them of the date you sold or px the car, this happened to me last year when my old car was under survalance , the DWP were tracking it through a fraud investigation,

as soon as i found out i wrote the letter and sent special delivery, it takes 28 days for them to confirm back
