Hi..What year is the 1.8?...I think the later vvt 1.8`s are beter than the older ones..but for overtaking on motorways go for the 2.2.....Otherwise get the 150 diesel...I`m not biased..

Go for a 2.0T, argubly the best engine in the range. very pokey, 30MPG combined approx. I'm not biased either

But from the two you suggested i would go for 2.2 auto, my dad has a 2.2direct auto box and its not bad

hhhmmm...I have drove a 1.8 & it was fine, although some do say its slightly underpowered for a big heavy car. I like the 2.2's but I don't know anything about auto's! I would test drive both & go for the best deal. you will find common problems with any car but you should be fine with those.

The 1.8 is rather sluggish and slow due to the sheer weight of a vectra

From the 2 you mentioned id go for the 2.2.

Also the vectra's auto boxes are pretty realible.

Ive got a auto on my 3.2 and i doubt ill ever go back to manual too damn lazy now lol

well the older ones have usually had the usuall stuff done but when running right, they are great engines!

from the 3 though, i would say 2.2, auto boxes seem to be good too, good luck and post pics when you buy one, good luck with the baby

Yeah but it's a bit pricey from VX, if you can find someone with the tools to do it for you then you can do it fairly cheap.

I had a 1.8 VVTi and I wouldn't call it underpowered, obviously compared to the 2.0T / 2.8T it isn't that quick but they don't seem to go wrong that often. If you can get a 1.9 CDTi that's already had the important stuff done then it should run well for a long time before anything needs doing again.
