    Default Drag Strip times

Has anyone taken their car down a drag strip?

I was thinking of taking my car down the drag strip to see what time it does to get a performance bench mark before doing any modifications and then do some runs after to see what, if any, real world improvement has been made.

I've got a 2.0T so would be interested in any stories from people with the same car. What times should I be expecting?

What got me interested was reading an older post where spoon and nutron went down for a little grudge match .
To be fair, taking the fuel type out of the equation, given the displacement difference between the engines (2.8 to 1.9) I was really impressed with the 15.3 ish of the diesel. If he was trying to prove a point about diesels surly he should of been up against the 2.0ts and 2.2s etc. I'm sure he would spank most of us

Ok to get the ball rolling:

    VXR:
    Spoons: 14.3801 @ 99.52 mph

    Fastest VXR: Spoons

    2.8V6T
    none

    2.0T
    none

    2.2
    none

    1.8
    none

    3.0V6D
    none

    1.9D
    Nutron: 15.2048 @ 92.84mph

    Fastest 1.9D = Nutron

    Fastest Diesel = Nutron
    Fastest in Club = Spoons

So if anyone has a drag strip time for a model listed none you automatically have the fastest in your class and well done

He He.... If you've never raced at Santa Pod before you'll find it harder than it looks

Macca thought his 420 Lb/ft torque would run rings around my times... and he couldnt get anywhere near... gave up in the end

All that extra torque you have will be a menace on the start line.. controlling it will be your biggest challenge, but will be interested to see what you get and dont be disheartened if its still slower than mine - every day is different due to changes in conditions, just go again another day... then another... until you get the time you want

Strange thing is the fastest Qtr Mile times are not Vectra VXR's... Its the Vectra 2.8 Elites with Automatic Gear Boxes and remapped engines - They do close to 14 seconds dead due to faster gearchanges

Thats quite interesting actually, would think the auto gearbox would change high upthe rev range, where as i get full 450 lbs low down,
Il see what i can do mate but i get wheelspin in 4th so will be hard too control the torque

lol - Do I hear excuses already

I remember once we were sat in the queue at Santa Pod and this young chap turned up in a spanking new Civic Type R... nice lad and was very excited with this car, Launch Control, Leather Seats, Fancy this, Fancy that... Fancy Girlfriend (but thats another story)... anyways...

Me and Nutron were talking to this chap and how his car was the fastest thing etc etc..

Nutron left him in a cloud of black soot, and I mean left him for dead - lol

I said to the Type-R owner that Nutrons car was a taxi during the day

He left the strip shortly afterwards ... and he didnt collect his time slips from the office
