Unhappy How to improve ride quality

    Hey guys

Ive been trawling the forum today trying to find out how i would go about improving the ride quality of my vec (its a 1.8vvt sri on 18's with 225/45 tyres).

Pretty much i hate going over bumps/potholes because you can feel absolutely everything in the cabin. The ride wasnt too bad before i put the 18's on but now its terrible with them on.

I dont know much about suspension at all but from what ive read its made up of 2 parts (please correct me if im wrong lol) The springs, and the shocks/dampers. Would replacing one/both of these make any difference, and if i was to replace them, what with??

What would you guys recommend i do to help the ride?

p.s i wouldnt mind it being a bit lower aswell!!

I think the only way is to put on 15" steel wheels and raise the suspension, plus 30mm should do it.

mines the same with 17" rims, i don't think it's the fact you have 18's.
veccy suspension is hard on the sport models, good handling on country/motorway but cr*p round town imo.
trade it in for a soft french motor LOL.

    Vehicle : Vectra SRi

I didn't feel any difference moving from 17" to 18" on my SRi, but the side effect of going lower would be a slightly stiffer ride again, so unless trading your SRi for an Elite (or similar) you're a bit stuck - unless you take the 18's off of course.

Try mine with 19's, with shortened shocks, 40mm springs etc then see what you think your ride is like lol.

Ahh but what makes the elite suspension better than the SRi? Does it have better springs/shocks? If so would they fit an SRi?

    Cheers for the replys guys

They have slightly longer shocks with softer springs, like standard (non-SRi) - they will fit yours, but would look like an SRi look-a-like then as it will make it 15mm higher.
