    Default Had the car serviced.....OUCH!

I thought I'd give the car a final dealer service before moving to a local garage I trust or sell the car. 06 plate CDTI SRI Pre-Facelift.

Service 220 quid....OUCH (major service) then I gets the call.....

    2 rear tyres
    discs all round
    Rear Pads
    Rear road Springs.......
Oh and wiper blades that i only replaced 3 weeks ago!

I meant to do this before the warranty expired, but never got round to it.

I think she said another 600 quid for the repairs.....

I said I'll be in touch. I need to shop around for a better price...

Wipers that you replaced 3 weeks ago, I'd question that, plus that in itself would make me question everything else!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

£220 for a major service......you can do so much better than that......even at a VX dealer. Maybe the time is right to get rid.

I won't mention the £350 alternator Browns of Loughton tried to flog me, when there was nothing wrong with the old one... I'd find an independent garage or put the thing in the Loot... Get something more upmarket

Those who don't want to use dealers, but live in the Norfolk area, Courtenay do good deals on regular servicing. Way cheaper than dealers and to be honest alot better.

Even if your not in the Norfolk area, it's worth going for the day out.

    £600.00 !

2 rear tyres - go part worn, decent one's will be £25.00 per corner, so £50.00 fitted.

discs all round - DIY for about £50'ish.

Rear Pads - again DIYfor about £30.00 'ish

    Rear road Springs.......again DIY.....£50.00?

Oh and wiper blades that i only replaced 3 weeks ago! - leave as is?

Approx £200.00 and your done! Just a bit of your own time!

Yep. If possible could you do the work yourself. It would work out a whole lot cheaper.
I bought some front springs for my wifes Vectra off Ebay, they were about £40. I shall be fitting them myself soon.

The wiper thing..... Just based on this i'd tell em where to go. In fact you'd see me wandering about the showroom making my opinions very clear to the manager and anyone who happened to be within hearing distance. Sure they'll make excuses, but they're having a laugh.

When you change discs, you should change the pads at the same time, you don't change front discs and leave the pads as they are because the old pads will ruin the new discs.

Oh and I wouldn't touch original VX springs with a barge pole.
