Wiper failed - guess the repair cost at stealers

Driving up the M5 the passenger wiper stops in the middle of the screen and the drivers wiper crosses over it and then the passenger wiper returns to down position and stops.

Drivers wiper carries on OK thank god.

Went to stealers for two hours, had to have wiper motor and linkage replaced.

Guess how much it cost? (53 Vectra 3.2 Elite)

Don't forget to add labour and VAT to your guess.

The motor doesn't need replacing if just the passenger side has failed, Autovaux do the linkage for (last time I asked) £56 +vat. Its easy to fit yourself. VX want over £100 just for the linkage.

Well.... they don't profit from selling the actual cars, it's after service that really brings in the money. Not surprising that they take you for as much as they can.

i echo rushy. Its a mistake on their systems that the motor needs to be changed. You can do it yourself in half an hour. Should have checked here first

My linkage has gone, and at the moment I am holding it together with some thick elastic bands..seems to work well as a temp fix anyway, lol

sickening isnt it ??

but on a positive note if i was you i would phone them back and say you understand that the motor did not need changing and they did not tell you this - you were not given all available options of repair (ie parts only - temp repair to get you home etc) that were clearly available and as such they have breached your trust as a customer and abused you - therefore you will be contacting trading standards....

and see if there prepared to back down on the costs or if there just "thick"
