    Default Insurance help please

    So, as i posted up before, some *&^) reversed into my veccy, dented the front o/s bumper pretty bad. To my knowledge, the extent of the damage is;

    Bumper dented and cracked on f/o/s;
    Bumper cracked and "hanging" where the bumper meets the wheel arch on the side;
    Where the bumper screws into under the grill is cracked (so not on the actual bumper)
    Possible crack/something in the headlight bottom as its loose now.

    I also had to get a new tyre as I found a bumper screw embedded in it shortly afterwards.

    So the guys denying it, he says I went into the back of him, however due to my very detailed statement, and his lack of, and also the possibility of a witness coming forward, Royal Sun Alliance want to come and view my motor "without prejudice" to, in their words "see if they are going to write it off" ????

    Garage estimated about £600 Labour/Sundries, with parts on top, so they estimated for new o/s headlight, wing, bumper, bumper carrier (I know not all of this might be needed).

    So it comes to roughly £1500 with it all. Now, parkers value my car as £3405 Private good (which is is, a tad over 50k on the clock).

    So 40% of the cars value is just under £1400. My question is, will they actually write it off for literally a dent and a few cracks?!.

    Its in my interest not to have it written off, as any money recieved would have to go to the finance company, and i'm in no situation to get a new car.

    Cheers

    The thing with Insurance Companies is they don't use Parkers to value a vehicle as it's not very accurate (usually undervalued).

    They use Glasses Guides.

    They also don't write a vehicle off unless it's at least 66% of the vehicle's value.

    So you should be fine in this case.

    If they do want to right the car off, then you can tell them not to, request a Cash in Leui for repairs.
    They then sent you a cheque for the estimated repair costs minus the VAT.
    This is sometimes the better option because you can then shop around and get the repairs done cheaper, and keep the extra money.

    Every time I have been involved in accident I have contacted the insurance company straight away, "The car is unsafe and unroadworthy, I am therefore unable to drive it until inspected and repaired"
    They have then asked what makes it unroadworthy, "Let me see; how about the sharp edges on the bumper, the damaged tyre, and broken headlights"
    I have then had a courtesy car within 1 hour, for my use for up to 14 day
    I then advise the insurance company that I only want repairs carried out a dealership

    The other party has then had all those costs to pay, plus my excess, any loss of pay, and all telephone costs
    Total cost to me = nil

    My car has already had a new front bumper, the total bill was £1000 (hit a fox on Motorway)
    My Mondeo had a new rear bumper, the total bill was £800
    My previous Vectra B also had a new front bumper, that was also £1000
