Brake Caliper and Pads

Hi folks

Got a grinding noise driving home from work yesterday, went to national tyres this morning for them to take a look and they said the read offside calipers has seized and worn the brake pad down. He said both would need replacing and the cost would be £468inc. Does this sound right ??

ummmm, no. That's outrageously expensive. Definitely go elsewhere. Keep away from the chain places like National & Kwikfit. Go to a local independant.

Thanks that is just what I thought but not being a car person I wasnt sure. What sort of price would be reasonable to pay ?

your calipers are made by ATE and you can buy the same replacements from Eurocarparts HTH

Well it doesnt seem to expensive a part to warrant near £500 ! I'm hoping our little independent will be better : A.P.S in Wellington, Somerset.

Right booked into the local independent for next week, suppose me and the missus can car share until then

Now just have to wait for her to come home before I can go and pick the car up .. bah.
