    Default 2.0 DTi spanner light

Probably a daft question but every time i go onto a dual carriage way/motorway normally at the very beginning as building speed my engine management light comes on and goes into limp mode.

I know i need to get the codes read but meanwhile i'm trying work out if there is a common cause for this.

The strange thing is i can drive the town around all day without a problem, even hard accelarating but soon's i join a carriage way/motorway i get the dreaded light.

I cleaned the EGR valve in hope more than anything and there seems to be a small misfire at 2,250 revs.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you also clean the boost sensor, that would be my first guess

As above, clean the boost pressure sensor and replace it if this doesn't work - about £50.

Also check all of the small vacuum pipes (including the rubber ends) and large air pipes for any sort of holes and repair/replace them.

Finally, check with your dealer to see if you car needs the free turbo recalibration recall.

There's plenty of stuff on here about all of these issues as the "spanner light and limp home mode when accelerating at higher speeds" is a know DTi issue which the above are all causes of.

Use the seach button at the top of the page to find out all you need to know - and feel free to ask about anything you can't find or are unsure about.

Sort these out and then see if the misfire is still there...

Anyone know what the round thing is that has 2 vacuum pipes going into it, it's to the right of the radiator and the bigger rubber connecting pipe is split.

    Would that cause this problem?

That is one of the vacuum actuattors you should have three in total on the dti engine and what they do is they stabalize your vacuum system , check all the connection,s for splits and that they have been connected up correctly , they should be marked on the top as to which way round they go,.( load going to the terminal diaphram,s )
    Driving vauxhall,s for 30 + years

After replacing most of the vacuum pipes today it seems to have cured the problem, you wouldn't think something seeming so trivial could cause such a problem.

Good to know it's fixed- and that it was something trivial - and cheap!
