Default What is it hanging from the underside...

    of my 2.0 DTI?

It is not the exhaust and it is from the centre of the vehicle when viewed from the side and rear, about two feet long

It looks like aluminium with pre-formed holes: my notice was drawn to something being wrong when I start up I hear it rattle against the body work but it then stops.

I would take a photograph but the camera is at home and I am not.

It does not appear to effect the car in any way.

I will try to get it on a ramp this weekend but if anyone has a clue?

    Cheers

    Don

Yep i'd say heatshield, the holes which the bolts and washers fix into to fix it to the underside of the car become warn and eventually bigger than the washer so they fall away. I put a bigger washer on and job done!

Same here. however, I did almost rip mine off when I went through a ford a bit too fast obviously. It wrapped itself around the exhaust pipe. Took a bit to reform it and then secured with bigger washers (about 2" dia). It is secured by about 4 or 5 screws on each side of the tunnel.
