Default What should i do? You decide!

Ok, bought an sxi 52plate last week, didn’t give a lot for it (£700) but has developed loads of the traditional faults which I shall now list:

    1. Auto box knackered

    2. Heater blower motor ceased

    3. Front pads need doing

    4. Slight oil leak from t/chain cover

    5. Tax runs out at the end of the month (£220)

I have managed to source a full leather interior, gid&stalk, rear electric window parts (all from same car in the scrappers!)

As I see it, my choices are:

    1. Do the lot, got a mate in the trade who will sell me a refurbished auto box for £700. Just means I will have to slip my boss a couple of quid to use the workshop for the weekend and, more importantly, let the mrs go shopping by herself without me keeping an eye on what she's blowing my hard earned wonga on. This will also entail missing football and not having to many shandys on Friday night.

    2. Do it at work and pay for one of the yts lads to help so as to speed things up and perhaps be home in time for match of the day and not let the mrs rape my gold card.

    3. Sack the whole motor and start again

    You’re input, please

How about you 'lose' your credit cards until the end of the month, when you have to pay that £220 VED. Get match of the day on Sky+ and tell nobody to let you know the scores. And get one of the lads to help you by bribing him to come in and the weekend with you to fit the autobox.

Can you pick up another motor for the price of the repairs..... possibly not, and you'd like to think it would be spot on once all the bits have been sorted....

    Getting back on track...
... there is the thought that by completing the work you'll end up with a car that is a 'known quantity'. You'll know far more regarding the condition of most (if not all) parts and systems, whereas anyone else just buying a car is assuming everything's ok.
So assuming the expense incurred is reasonable and sensible, I'd say go for it.

For the amount the car cost etc, it would be worth getting the repairs done IMO.

You'll have to pay car tax on any car really as well

For some reaon my post after big macs was deleated so i shall type it out again. What seems to have caused a problem is that in my frustration of just realising i had to spend a grand on my car, i said i might just not bother and sell it on ebay with the other things ive bought. Unknown to me, another member offered to buy it or part of it in a later post (i still dont know what was said as ive not seen it!). I had no knowledge of this as i was not logged in at the time to see it. Im gonna do the box this weekend and the gid, windows and leather so just in case anyone thinks that this is an attemp to sell anything its not, IM KEEPING IT, ALL OF IT. Is that clear enough for everyone?

I agree that full paid membership is the way forward. I joined in sept 2008 then never posted until last week when i actually got the car so big mac, gimmie a chance. However i must say that following your snyde comment i am thinking twice about it. I am a full time mechanic and am happy to share (what amounts to) a vast knowledge/expertise with anyone on here who asks for it, on all makes/models. I didnt realise that forums like this were so cliquey and fail to see the need to respond in thae manner that big mac did. Its not, in my humble opinion, what these great knowledge based clubs are meant to be..are they?

Handyandy, I am now of your way of thinking and will post up pics of eveything when completed.
