Default vectra cdti elite 3.0 v6 is it worth buying ?

on ebay ive been looking to buy a vectra cdti but dont know weather to get the 1.9 150 cdti or the 3.0 v6 cdti. got £5500 to spend, it seems on this forum that more problems occur with the 1.9 150 cdti rather than the 3.0 v6 cdti. going on the last few days on ebay (to me seem to get better bargains than autotrader) roughly £5500 can get me a 1.9 150 55-56 plate averaging 60,000-80,000 miles is this a reasonable price ? and with that many miles what are the things i need to look out for also would it be a good/bad idea to fit the dtuk tuning box. but......there is a 3.0 v6 cdti but has done 93,000 miles for £5400 looking at autotrader prices then this car seems cheap ??? is there anything i would need to look for on this car and also would it be a good/bad idea to fit the dtuk tuning box to this car ? my last car was the astra 1.9cdti 150 which was a great car and drive and very quick as i did have the dtuk chip on it making it to around 200 bhp but now having 3 kids need a bigger car ie vectra but as much as i want it to be quick i dont drive mad with the kids in the car lol !!!

i live in leicester but the v6 is in scotland so would need to be sure if this car is quite a bargain.

sorry for all the questions but need to be sure of what engine to go for as for me £5500 is a fair bit of money (but it is a diesel vectra im after)

Don't fit a box on the 3.0, the fuel pumps in the euro 4 cars do not like tuning, plus at 3k for a fuel pump its just not worth it.

    No comment on the 1.9's
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

If I was considering a car on eBay UK I would require an inspection / viewing before bidding
Equally, once I had looked over the car I would pay the absolute minimum

The reason there are few reports of issues on the 3.0 V6 CDTI is that there are not many about
However, there are a few members here with that engine and we all seem to have had pretty much the same problems
The engine is pretty much bomb proof
However, when it does go it is VERY expensive to repair, equally VX don't tend to know much about them to effect a repair without following external advice!
For that reason I would try and find a good diesel mechanic that has experience of the Isuzu Y30DT engine

Apart from that, the usual VX gremlins apply to the Vectra C

Mine is 4.5 years old and on 110K miles
It has passed both official MoT without any issues
The 3.0 V6 CDTI also has a very long service interval, at 30K miles
You can check this by removing the key from the ignition and pressing the odometer reset (the display shows miles TO next service)
However, if the car is out of warranty you can decrease the service intervals yourself to something more realistic (like 10K miles) and use standard synthetic oil
