Newbee : steering wheel controls

Hi to everyone,
Can anyone help me on my 03 plate vectra it has the steering wheel radio controls, these do not control the radio as the manual states. they all seem to perform the same function (set the radio to search mode).
Aslo unsure if it is connected to the steering wheel button issue but the radio sometimes starts goiug through all of the preset stations.

Any help will be greatfull.

Further Info:

I have removed the radio and checked all the wiring behind it and found nothing caught / damaged.
When i put the radio back in i didnt have to put the code in, it just worked ok

But i still have the error

Have also noticed that when i am listening to a CD it sometimes skips tracks or FFWRDs or REWDs them, so more investigation required.

Update:
I removed the Airbag and disconnected the black plug that sends the signals from the steering wheel buttons to the radio adn the problem with the changing of stations has gone away.
BUT i dont have a working Horn

Update time again
As previously removing black connector from behind the steering wheel also diconnects the Horn i have now reconnected it. Thus got my Horn working again.
I have removed the switch PCBs from the steering wheel.
The radio is still operating as it should, so i now need to work out which switch PCB is causing the radio fault.
