    Default Vectra C 1.9cdti problems

OK guys have finally give in and booked the car into the stealers tomorrow morning to have it checked out. Been have problems for couple months now and tried everything to fix it. Had a new egr valve last July, done the swirl repair, cleaned the boost sensor and also done the 3rd injector wiring mod.

I now believe that Vx will tell me i need a new inlet manifold. I've read on here where people got 70% off the price due to it being a design fault. My car is 05 and has only done 68k miles. Any advice or info i should go armed with to improve my argument for a big discount??

I think i read on here somewhere about a VOSA recall or something??

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Wee update, Car has been in Vx garage all day. Just as i thought they have said I need a new inlet manifold to cure the problem i'm having. They quoted me £550 for parts and labour which include todays diagnostics checks etc. I pushed them a wee bit and they dropped to £500.

Is there anything else needs relpacing apart from the inlet manifold?? As said earlier, I have had a new egr valve 6months ago, done the 3rd injector wiring mod and cleaned the boost sensor so hopefully the inlet manifold will solve it.

Collieq what is wrong with your engine [ Symptoms ]
No i have not replaced it apart from the bar coming off what else can be wrong with the manifold ?
My engine has only done 34,000 miles
£500 is a lot of money to me and if the manifold is ----ed after 34000 they should be repaird for FREE by Vauxhall
ps i have repaird the bar for now but making a new one with steel bearings

You wont get VX paying this. They will say that the car is too old and falls out of the 3yrs or 60K warrenty.. however believe me when I say that they should pay. I was in the same situation. 37k on an 05 and needed a new inlet.

As for the cost.. £500 is VERY cheap for the parts and labour.. HOWEVER, MAKE SURE THEY REPLACE THE SWIRL MOTOR VALVE ..
This must be done - this is the solenoid motor that controls the 3rd swirl that in turn moves the other swirl valves via the bar. These 'learn' the motion of the inlets and must be changed on new inlets...

Also take the PDF sheet in from Pierburg (makers of the Inlet) that indicates the design fault - some have had success when taking this in as evidence of design failure..

Cheers for the info Ant. I will go armed with a print out of that pdf tomorrow. How much did Vx charge you for replacing your inlet manifold?? Will be on the phone 1st thing in the morning to make sure they are replacing the swirl motor valve also.

    Hi,

Spoke with Vx this morning and they assured me i didnt need the new swirl valve motor. I spoke with a mechanic and he said he'd fitted several new inlet manifolds and never changed the swril valve motor on any of them. Has any1 had the inlet changed without the new motor? I was told it was an extra £155 for it

Trouble is mate - not saying it will or wont work. But the makers of the inlet, in that PDF insist that its changed..

For me - going to all the trouble of having a new manifold - I would get it changed.
