Default Z22SE engine squeak when cold

Just started getting a squeak with each revolution from engine (Z22SE) when it's started first thing in the morning, having said that it doesn't seem to every morning, seems to be more noticeable with these damp mornings of late, noise only lasts about a minute or so when idling, then goes, which makes it somewhat harder to detect exactly where it is, I'm suspecting it may be the Auxilliary belt causing it and especially with all this cold and snowy weather we've had may have taken it's toll on the belt, any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers Pete

excatly the same as mine, doing the same for about a week now. Does sound like the aux belt but keep thinking it will just go away. Any other suggestions.

I'm gonna see how it goes and if it carries on for too much longer or gets worse then I'll pop another belt on and see what happens, if it's the tensioner then that's apparently a pain to change on the Z22SE engine in that the front exhaust has to be dropped , an engine mount off and few other items removed, according to TIS anyway.

my 1.9cdti developed a squeak when cold that drove me made, turns out it was coming from the aux drive belt(it was a cheap one i fitted), i tried various things to stop it, a quick spray of WD40 would eliminate it for a few minutes but it kept coming back. i bought a belt from the stealers & not a squeak since. what i did notice is that the belt that was squeaking was very rubbery/glossy & the vx one seemed to have more cord/thread moulded into it.

Mine looks a bit glossy also, not so much on the ribbed side but on the other side and it is a VX one; just been out to the car this lunch time to investigate further and typical there's no noise at all but having said that it's not that damp outside at the moment so everythings running dry as it were, did have a panic moment when I noticed it looked like the small guide pulley just to the rear of the alternator one looked like it was stationary even looking with a torch!! bit difficult to get to so used a long tie wrap' to slowly drop it onto said pulley and it was dragging the tie wrap as it were, so at least it proved it was spinning!! cars !! who'd 'ave 'em eh!!

Strangely enough it's stopped doing it!! at least for the moment, but should it return I will probably just change the belt and see how it goes.
