    Default Corsa Bonnet

Firstly let me say I accept I'm a complete idiot.

So I have a Corsa which was a temporary car, whilst the weather was bad I'd attempted to put a couple of things back in place namely the airbox. The pipe that goes from the cover on the exhaust manifold to the airbox didn't get put back on and was actually on the top of the wing in the channel. Shut the bonnet, needed more of a push than normal as I had not realised about the pipe.

Now I can't open the bonnet and it's raised slightly at that corner as the pipe has forced it up. Best thing to do?

Anyone local to Carshalton who could help would be great!

try getting someone to push down on the centre of the bonnet while you pull the lever at the same time.

Ask someone to push down on the bonnet at the front and at the same time, pull the catch, dont force it too much as it may snap, but with the force at the front, it should snap open. Tug it up and down if it down work with a push down?

Oh, and your and idiot..... !

Yeah tried that, lever works fine and you can feel the handle under the bonnet and it's free, but because the bonnet has lifted at the rear hinge it won't come up.

I fear a little damage may be in order just how best to get it open

Fixed it! Levered the corner of the bonnet up with a claw hammer then pushed the tube back down into the engine bay, jumped on the corner that had popped up and it was fine.

Bonnet has a crease in right at the front (looks like it's been hit by a rock), so wasn't worried about damaging it.

It's a little project, got new belts, water pump and thermostat to put on now. Looking forward to gettting stuck into some really mechanics!

    Well done,

I had to use an angle grinder on my brand new VXR when the boot locked shut after a loose bolt had jammed the mechanism.

All sorted now, but it wasnt a pleasant experience at the time .. and thankfully no damage done
