    Default Do you need to fit the cancellers on a HIDS kit

    Another HIDS question i'm afraid (mods is it worth creating a seperate sub section?).

    I've just fitted a 35w 6000k kit from HIDS Direct, I never fitted the cancellers as I had no bulb warning light up (might be to do with having the headlamp washer jets actvated by Tech 2). However what i'd like to know is do the cancellers serve any other purpose than fixing the bulb warning error? One headlamp is flickering ever so slightly, will the canceller fix this?

    It's a 2006 facelift Vectra

    when i spoke to the lady at hids direct she said there is a bulb warning canceller built into the ballast, and the capacitors are just to combat the pulsing if you have any.

    Well just switched the lights on no flickering, and have now fitted the cancellers and everything still appear to be fine so will leave them that way.

    Just drove into work still flickering/pulseing ever so slightly on drivers side, had this reply from HIDS Direct;

    Hi there it could be however its more likley to be the canbus down one side thats causing it on the vec c

    All you need to do is try a few things to get it going. If you fit the kit with no capacitors first see if that sorts it. If not swap ballasts this will confirm if its a ballasts or the canbus

    Also if the caps off is doing the same plug both caps into each other and fit them in line down the flickering side this usually sorts the problem. so it would go ballast - cap - cap - bulb down the problematic side.

    So bumper off again tomorrow (I can do it in less than five minutes now )

    One thing I have noticed is that the light seems to start up bright, dim then slowly (within 5 seconds) come back to normal brightness, is this normal with HIDS?

    Just read your posts Paul, Is your pulsing really bad? Mine's just like a flicker in the drivers side. Not very noticeable but once you know it's there it's annoying. Gonna try and swap the ballasts tomorrow hopefully time dependant.
