    Default CD30 and Ipods

Hi everyone. I happened on your forum when researching the apparently age-old-problem of whether or not I could run an ipod through my 57 plate Vectra CD30 stereo (no aux in). Your forums document this problem quite well and the answer is basically NO - unless I use an FM Transmitter (mucho interference) or FM Modulator (mixed reports).

I thought I would get in touch however, to point out something I have since found on the internet which seems to get around this problem. It's called an 'iO Connect' and is basically a seperate amplifier which hijacks your speakers (or Mutes them) whenever you connect an auxilliary device. They are available (even for Vauxhalls!!!) through www.nexia.co.uk (amongst others) with a wiring kit together with basic Ipod connecters starting at about £65 all in. Has anyone tried or got one of these and if so are they up to much??

    Cheers. Dave.

Sorry, it's actually NEXXIA (two XXs) and the link is halfway down on the http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Audio/iO_Play.htm page (orange box thingy).

I too would be very interested in hearing about this iO Connect box.
    Your description sounds bang on.

I've also identified a couple of other alternatives:

    The iConnect from Connnects2

    https://www.connects2.com/Instructio...ctVauxhall.pdf
    £40-£50

    The Ice>Link One from Dension

    http://dension.com/index.php?pageID=175
    About €100

Has anyone installed any of these 3 adapters?

I like the look of the iConnect but I'm concerned that:
    a. my CD30 doesn't have a AUX input
    b. even if it has, how do I select it? does the audio system automatically switch over?

I'm cautiously optimistic as I've noticed in the audio menu an entry called "Ext"

    Any ideas?

    Same here.

It gives full ipod use via separate steering wheel controls.

Also allows you to use: flash-drives / SD cards to store and play your music.

    ps. smart removable screen also.

It mutes the head unit and uses a built in amp to give volume to the speakers.

Best option IMO, the above connects2 adaptor will only work if you have Aux in option any way,

So you physically have to connect it to your existing head unit? Is this an easy job? Sorry to thread hijack by the way, you just asked exactly the same question as I was going to.
