    Default Clutch spring mod...

Like many others, my clutch doesn't return to the top, so doesn't hit the cruise control switch. Up until a few months ago, I could engage the cruise by lifting the pedal with my left foot, but now I get nothing.

Went to the VX parts counter the other day to see if I could get a price on the clutch spring mod-kit which I've heard people talk about, but the guy said it wasn't on the system. He seemed to think it was a recall item and they'd send it out free of charge if I got in touch with head office.

Anyone else fitted one of these? Where did you get it?

Car is 3 years out of warranty so happy to pay for it, just need to know where from!

i dont know how to adjust it but it can be done in 5 seconds, i had mine adjusted for this purpose, the lad who done it came out to the car and lent under the pedal area, i heard a clicking niose and it was done!! within seconds.go to a dealership see one of the workshop lads and ask if he will nip the adjustment up, if it dont work it may be a stalk problem, i have a test for the stalk, driving along pull on the stalk as though you were pulling it out of the colum, at the SAME! time press the set button, its a little tricky but if it works flick or tap the stalk , if the cruise goes off there is movement in the stalk and there's a fix. pm for more info on this if it works, i will try to do a post with pics on how to do it.

just seen this post and i have the same problem, when i try to set the speed the light flickers on then off for a sec. thats it. heard about this spring replacement. not overly keen on going to my local vauxhall as there all a set of C*NTS. with i'd seen this before only just come in from driving the ****** thing.

A post with pictures would be nice. I can then add this to the Mahoooosive list of repairs and fixes that my car needs!

    Cheers, Baz.

you can try to hold the clutch pedal up with your foot to see if the cruise will work, this will give you some idea if its adjustment or not.
try my suggestion regarding the stalk if it works there is a way of making it work again.

OK guys after some requests for the cruise stalk fix I've took some pics, remove the cruise stalk?, if you have not done this before there should be a how 2, DONT! use any undo pressure to remove it, if you pull the rubber off towards the steering wheel use a medium to large paper clip opened up slide the clip underneath the stalk towards the column until it stops (groove shown in last pic), then simply remove no pressure required if you have it in correctly.
At the end of the stalk you will see a black nipple! clearly seen in the pics (in white colour).as i have already done mine and you will see the difference to yours, You will need some one sided sticky back paper i have used that left-over from cd/dvd labels but any thin sticky back paper will do, firmly stick two/three small squares on to the nipple (mine requires 3 usually), Replace the stalk and when its home you will hear a feint click, it may require a couple attempts as if there's not enough the cruise will still be intermittent, and to much will not allow the stalk to lock/click into place!! DONE!!. A test run with cruise on and flick or tap the stalk, if it knocks off another piece of paper should do, if it stops on .
