    Default tight steering-help

    hi all
    problem with my vectra ,,,,,jumped in ,,,tried to start car -left in gear then jumped forward ,,,,then engine not cranking called AA who said starter faulty....jumped in gear started car but steering very tight to move with engine running ...what would cause this ......is it the battery .???....even with car running cant turn steering so so tight any ideas....:-)

    power steering pump fault...

    That's what killed my car... at best it's the power steering switch, at worst the steering pump will have to be replaced and that's a big job.

    Have you had any warning lights on the dash, like the steering wheel and ! displayed?

    If you go to a stealer, make sure they don't tell you any patter about your alternator's gone and that's what needs to be replaced along with the Steering ECU... that's what they tried on me.

    Hi all
    still tight steering ,,,checked fluid level ....but its a electric /hydraulic pump is there a fuse for the system ....,as I dont have a manual ...all that happened was the starter packed in replaced the starter and then tight steering ,,,,would a fault code lock out the system ....help needed again

    hi. can you hear the steering pump going. If you put op-com on it you can see what the steering angles are and what speed the pump is running at. If your struggling let me know and I can meet you somewhere as I have the latest version of op-com mate. Hope this helps.
