Eek Can I use the F word here?

Before the thread gets taken down, the word is Ford...

Sad to say, after the many problems I've had with the Vectra, I've had to sell her, as I couldn't afford to replace the entire power steering system (as suggested by one dealer!) I had all those ECU faults as well, but the car was a Lemon...

So yesterday, after asking the Mrs if she wants to continue ploughing money into the Vec to try and fix this issue, I decided to let someone else have the joy of 'Steven Peel's Dodgy Vectra' as one invoice I found said After the 4 previous owners, I should have sensed there was something up. I was able to trade The Lemon in for a Mondeo. I just needed something to run us about reliably. (And steering helps! )

Still, it's been fun, and no doubt I'll keep in touch and drop in on the forum now and then. I always liked the Vec, the styling was great. I just wished some of the Vx dealers were better and a little more honest

Thanx for all u guys with your help with trying to resuscitate my car, and for offers to Tech2 it.

    SK

It was sad to hear of all the problems you had with your Vectra. But I think you have done the right thing to get rid of it, if it is costing loads of money to keep repairing it then I don,t think keeping it is a viable option. From what I hear the Mondeo is not a bad motor. I have a mate at work who has one, and is very pleased with it.
Hope you are still going to see us on the site though, you will still be welcome to be here.

I considered a Mondeo before the Vectra, spec. seemed very good but none of the engines seemed to fit my needs. Then I went over the top in terms of engine and got a GSi

Overall the Mondeo Mk3 had more for the money (Ghia v SRI)
The Vectra B was quite new at the time and the new diesel engines hadn't yet been included in the range
I wasn't able to get any form of extended warranty from either Ford or Vauxhall, as soon as I mentioned "looking for cover up to 120K miles"
The Mondeo was a nice drive, but it was in the dealership almost every month for something (and a replacement SONY stereo took 18 months)
The engine went a few weeks before the first MoT and eventually Ford agreed to buy the car back

Members of my family have had Fords before, as with all mass manufactured cars there are a small number that are just lemons

I had a Ford 2.0 TDCI before my Vectra. Nice car to drive, comfortable, smooth and being a diesel I got pretty got MPG. Only problem was I used to drive Leon Cupra R's and Subaru Impreza's so a diesel burnt a hole in soul and it had to go lol.
    But overall a good car.

I was very tempted by the Mondeo when I got my C. Test drove one and loved it, so it was 50-50 whether I got one or the Vec.

The only thing I dislike about the mondeo is that when you are sitting behind one you can see the axle and suspension, the bumper is way too high up, needs to go lower to hide all that stuff.
