    Default Intake and exhaust

Hi guys, I've got a Vectra C 1.8 SRi non VVT- I've just purchased a 33-2848 K&N air filter panel off of eBay for about 34 quid, now I'm wondering about this mod some of you guys have been on about, where in the air box you can remove the funnel thing, supposedly removing the restriction on the air flow. Was half wondering if this creates a sort of turbulence inside the box which might impede the flow of air? Secondly, I was considering trying to get hold of the shorter VXR intake pipe but I'm not sure this is going to be of any advantage to a smaller cc vectra engine? Can anyone help?!!

    hi
i did all 3 of the mods all in 1 go and it did make a differance to my 1.8, by taking the flat spots out when putting my foot down.
not sure if all or just one made the differance, but i think its worth doing.

The air filter will free up a bit of horsepower, increase engine response, make a bit more noise and as mhvcbv has said remove any flat spots so worth while bud

Right, that's good to know. I might try it first with just the new filter, then try it with the funnel thingy air box mod, just to see if it makes any difference. I've read that these VXR intake pipes are quite cheap, can you still get them from vauxhall dealerships?

Is there a website or something I can get one of these intake pipes off of, there's none on eBay and I'm paranoid about asking the stealers in case it affects my warranty in some way!!

I can't see it effecting the warranty but you could allways lie about your name at the dealers or get your MUM to get it for you.

Some guys are talking about disconnecting the battery when making these changes in order to reset the ECU but I've heared that it's an adaptive system and will retune itself to any changes made. Is it neccessary to disconnect the battery for half an hour while I replace the filter and remove the funnel in the air box?

no need to dissconect the battery at all m8, as the car will sort it self out with-in 100 miles.
