Default Light on.. limp home mode when warm.... any help plese ???

Hi there i have a vectra 2001 cdx 1.8.. Then engine light came on ( the orange light to the left hand side looks like an engine ???) The car will drive fine intill its warmed up like 15 mins or so then it will go into limp home mode also if you drive it then turn off the car without it going into limp home mode if you go back to the car while its still warm it will still be in limp home mode.... I have recently changed both lambda sensors the mass air flow sensor plus it had a service not long ago when all filters, sparks and oil were changed.. any ideas what the prob could be ?? (Without a code reader)

    thanks in advance
    Lester

Don't think you can do the paperclip test on a 2001 Vectra-B. It's too new. Only works on cars up until 1999 or 2000 I believe.

slight update... i got the code reader and 2 popped up, code 0135. with the message o2 - bank 1 sensor 1 ( i take it this is the sensor before the cat ? as i did change this 1 already maybe i got the wrong part ) and an ignition coil fault.
can anyone confirm the correct engine number for a 2001 cdx vectra 1.8
I cleared the codes but within a few mins they were bk on .

Mate, I had a VERY similar issue on my Vec-B SRI DTI 2 weeks ago.

Car ran fine cold, as soon as it got to normal running temp, EML on, no rev counter and rev's hunting at idle.

When left to cool down, fine again until back to running temp. Turned out to be the crank sensor.

I know yours is a petrol and mine Diesel but similar symptoms!!

Here's my original thread, in case its any help: http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99408

thanks for the help so far guys.. My previous o2 sensor i ordered was for the z18xe, if this was the wrong one this could explain 1 of the faults ? i dont know if its fly by wire.. is there a way to find out, is the engine number printed anywhere

If you can see a throttle cable going to the inlet manifold then its a x18xe, although I would imaging the o2 sensors are pretty much the same across these engines.
