Bit off topic for a second... but the Focus RS...

WOW, Graham Goode Racing have got a remap for £400'ish quid which will take it immediately to 340 BHP...

I would have the Focus RS TOMORROW if I could afford the change...

Anyways... back to VXR worshipping... Yum Yum...

id say a saloon e46 m3 saloon would be the ideal car. Its a shame they never made one. The fact that e46 m3 was 2 door only ruled it out totally for me

About the only thing the vec does better than the e46 M3 is in gear acceleration due to oodles of torque and a turbo. Other than running costs, the m3 is superior in just about every other respect.

I'm not clouded in my oppinions, its just the market judges what the ST220 competes with, not what Ford thought they should compete with.

Come on. On a Vectra forum, which do you think will win.

I'll vote VXR, now there's a surprise! Ha Ha.

Difficult one. I think for outright performance I'd go for the VXR obviously but I prefer the ST220's more understated looks. The VXR is too "obvious" IMO and I don't really like the Vectra's interior either - the Mondeo interior looks less plastic and feels more substantial. Having said all that, I much prefer the looks of the VXR estate to the Mondeo estate.

the 6 interior is definately nicer than the VXR

not so sure about the mondeo though

Have you seen the horrible silver effect surround on the clock ? URGH! and it clashes horrendously with the piano black of the radio and matt black of the dash plastics

Total mish mash.

To be fair neither Ford nor Mazda marketed their offerings as aggressively as VX did the VXR, as they weren't a priority. Mazda have dropped theirs (although the engine continues in the Mazda 3), and Ford may well drop the successor to theirs (2.5 V6 with a Volvo lump), as they concentrate on the Focus, although the new Mondeo could have a new 2.0 turbo with in excess of 200bhp, according to Auto Express.

The VXR looks the part and outperforms the others. And they have gone further with the Insignia VXR.
