Default You may know already but just in case

I had a tyre shred on me today the tyre make is: a goodyear eagle ntc..............when i called vaux and managed to limp back to the garage the service manager said there had been a recall on these tyre's within a certain chassis range (mine isn't within that chassis range) but the tyre still did the same, so a report has been sent to vx to say that maybe they have missed something and maybe more tyre's than originally thought are weak.

so my advice to you is if you are running a vx with these tyre's as standard fit take it to vauxhall and get it checked.

hope this stops someone having a tyre shred like me today.

Just bought new Goodyears and did notice that they have changed the design a little

They now have a lip around them that i guess is to stop wheels getting kerbed but it may be for some other reason

Phoned my dealer and they confirmed that my tyres may be affected. Got to take the car in so that they can check the sidewalls for an id/code and then they can let me know. If the tyres are, then they have to order new ones direct from Goodyear which might take some time.

How can Vx get away with this a. not telling anyone and b. making you wait (assuming mine are) thus putting you in danger whilst driving around?

I want compo so that I can go and buy a make of choice, don't fancy another set of Goodyears. Have I got any chance of this if mine are affected?

Christ! remember the Ford Explorer / Firestone debacle over in the States a few years ago? I'd imagine they'll replace them a bit quickly!

Ok. Called in at my supplying dealer to get this tyre business sorted out on the way home. Had a look at the bulletin but was not allowed a copy (I'm only a customer). The code number is 05-R-79. It affects Goodyear Eagle NCT 5s with a code marked on the sidewall in the range 1605-2405 (mine is 1905). I guess that this is the week/year of manufacture. So I need all four tyres replaced. I range Vx customer services (01582 721122 spoke to someone called Suzanne Thompson) to get a case number but ended up just getting advice. I should have got a recall notice for this along with a recall for the oxygen sensor (what does that do and where is it?) under another recall ref. number viz. 05-P-78.

So I've got to get two jobs done.

I've only had the car just over a month

    What a great start!!
