Default Weird Electrical Problems 2002 2.2 SRI Help!

O.k so after owning my veccy for 5 days today i've had a new alternator fitted as the old one was naffed. Now some of the electricals aren't working here's a list

Rear heated screen (although the button lights up when pressed :s )

Passenger window doesnt go up or down ( from passenger button works off driver side button)

Heater fans only blow on full speed ( Number 4 ) won't work on 1, 2 or 3

Boot release button doesn't work on key or on drivers switch or key fob

Electric Wing Mirrors dont move the glass either

Cruise control isn't working at all......

What do you guys think relays??.........Fuses???.....or something else as they are all a bit random faults.............Lots of problems to be having with a new car .

Oh yea also it sometimes cuts out when i dip the clutch and idles a bit odd kinda like its shunting....im going to assum a maf sensor problem with this as it happend on my 2002 astra sri before.

Really appreciate any suggestions guys as i don't know this car at all and any help is great.

did your alternator go high voltage when it went? Lots of these probs you have could be standard vec c stock faults, but then again its a coincidence for them all to go at the same time

The alternator was gone when I bought the car it had been standing in someones drive for a year without being moved once it was being used as a shed for storage!! So they may have all gone as a result water or something :s

Rear heated screen (although the button lights up when pressed :s )

Passenger window doesnt go up or down ( from passenger button works off driver side button) - Switch is knackered, you could strip it down and clean the contacts but it doesn't last long.

Heater fans only blow on full speed ( Number 4 ) won't work on 1, 2 or 3 - Heater resistor, common fault on the vectra/signum,can get these from ebay or dealers afor about £20

Boot release button doesn't work on key or on drivers switch or key fob -Fuse maybe.

Electric Wing Mirrors dont move the glass either - Check fuse

Cruise control isn't working at all...... another common fault, spring on clutch pedal gets weak,so will need to be replaced

    Hope that helps.........

Thanks that's really helpful gives me some things to check now I'll post back many of thm I get sorted I have put another post up in the engine section although I'm suspecting it to be more of an electrical fault if anyone could check that out It would be really helpful as it's kinda worried me a bit that the car lost all power.

hi. my vectra had been standing for a long time when i got it.And it would not run.(injection pump ****ed) . but in the time i had been standing,it had been messed with by allsorts. i found the boot was not working off the key because the lock was in the wrong position. reset with key and works ok.the H.R.W the fuse in the boot was in the wrong position.refitted works ok. my heater blower was the due to the drain under the bonnet blocked causeing water to flow in to the heater.i had lots of other faults cause by the stealers programing the car wrong after i had a new injection pump.
good look with your veccy they are a great car to drive when sorted

The fact that so many things have twonked, when the alternator was replaced leads to to think that they may have blown a few fuses.
They may have took the alternator out without disconnecting the battery first..and fizzztt....
depends how good the mechanic / garage is.

Note also that it could be fuses from any of the fuse boxes, as they are all interlinked.

There are canbus links from the BCM (behind glove box) that control the REC (rear electrical centre) in the boot.

So I would definately check the fuses in the end of the dash as this is where the BCM fuses etc are.
There are relays and fuses also in the fusebox under the bonnet, that provide power to the ignition live circuits.

With regard to the fan speed...either the relay, or the resister pack!!

With your car being used as a storage medium, I would look at the connectors as well for all the items...standing so long, will probably mean that a lot of connectors etc have become corroded.

Also daft as it may be...are all the earths and connections securely fitted...especialy in and around the alternator.

Lots to look at, clean or replace and then reconnect.
Hope you have bags of time to go through the whole car.!!

    In order of query.

Rear heated screen (although the button lights up when pressed :s )
Check crimp connector on screen element for tightness
Relay 3 in boot (REC) - Heated rear screen relay
Relay 2 in boot (REC) - ignition on relay
Fuse 4 in boot (REC) - heated rear screen fuse
Fuses 28, 30 and 34 in engine bay (UEC) - REC supply
Fuse 7 at end of dash - bcm circuits
Fuse 9 at end of dash - bcm circuits
Fuse 12 at end of dash - bcm and overload circuits

Passenger window doesnt go up or down ( from passenger button works off driver side button)
Fuse 5 at end of dash - passenger and drivers door modules
Dirty / faulty switch or connector

Heater fans only blow on full speed ( Number 4 ) won't work on 1, 2 or 3
    Faulty resister pack

Boot release button doesn't work on key or on drivers switch or key fob
Try same fuses as for the rear heated screen
Check connectors are clean and secure

Electric Wing Mirrors dont move the glass either
    As for boot release
Check motors havent seized, and clean connectors

Cruise control isn't working at all......
clutch pedal spring or switch, brake pedal switch..short circuit.

    Hope this helps.

Also poor engine running could be down to everything being dirty, due to being stood for so long.

ok still aint got the heated screen sorted yet but the windows, electric mirrors were due to a dirty switch so thats done now getting the resistor pack from VX today to sort the fans out as thats gone.......after the resistor pack im going to be cleaning the egr valve and throttle body.....that should hopefully sort the idle problem and why the emission light keeps coming on and shooting it into limp mode
