Oil additives

I am going to change the oil in my car soon, and I was wondering what the feeling is about oil additives?

I have come across these options and wanted to know how you guys felt about it.

Have you used them?

Did you notice a difference?

Do you think they are a waste of time and money?

Have you experienced adverse effects?

I have recently added some Lucas stop leak into my oil . Slight change seems to run abit quieter and has slowed down a leak . I have read it can destroy oil seals over time but yet to experience this . I would say depends how old the vehicle is as to wether I would use in a car high mileage or old I would consider it . Depends what the problem is as well I wouldn't use oil additives unless there was a problem in the first place but that's my opinion . Hope this helps

good oils don't need additives as they have all they need in them.

Years ago I used Slick 50 in an old vx 1256 in a Chevette. At the time it seemed to do the trick but I have read some interesting stuff since that reckoned it was more likely to cause issues in a modern engine than solve them.

Stick with a good quality oil and you don't need them was the conclusion amd that's what I worked on ever since.

To my mind your missing a ? in your poll. There should be an option for never used an additive if you want a true reflection to your above question.

I have never used nor felt the need to use one. Good quality and of the correct viscosity is all ya need IMHO.

I should have done that, but now I can't edit it

IMO, as said, no need for them as long as you use the correct oil and replace it at least as often as recommended.
