    Default What would you do?

I have a 2.0T standard signum, I'm thinking of replacing it with a VXR vectra.

The way I'm looking at things at the minute is, I really want a little more power from the car (I had a remapped 2.0T vectra at 210BHP and this standard 2.0T isnt doing it for me anymore), so it's either remap this one, buy a VXR or buy a 2.8T; but which one?

    What you do and why?

I'd remap the 2.0T, 215-ish if you're happy with that, a lot more if you're greedy. It's a lighter engine, less thirsty and very reliable.

These are two of the biggest things that are telling me to remap this one. I am greedy, but not wanting to spend much more than £1500-2000 on this one, that would have to include turbo and injectors, as well as remap and possibly full stainless exhaust. I might be a bit optimistic with that, but hey ho.

Speak to someone who has a vxr and go and drive one, you will soon forget about 2.0t

I would think about that, but this one is standard, previously owned by an old couple, and only had 52K on the clock when I picked it up in September last year.

If someone near by has one that is willing to take me out in one, I would be very happy for that to happen.

As you know the health of the one you own I would look into tuning it so many times you go out and buy one done and later you find out you have opened a of problems where people have not done something right or abused the car badly so end up spending more money than you planned. Your budget will put you in the right path to get a good sensible set of mods done to gain the best bhp / torque for you.

A full good healthy service is always a plus as that alone can help the engine breath and flow better, then look at a good exhaust system, good air box mod even good spark plug choice's to burn the fuel correctly these will not give super gains but everything you change you will notice improvements.

Then look into intercoolers, injectors and things along those line for the next bigger gains..

Question is though if you buy a vxr and then 3 months down the road will you be used to the power and want more!
I know my car is just as quick as when I mapped it etc but feels normal now I am used to it ,
If you do opt for a vxr and get used to the power bear in mind that getting more power out of it is more expensive and so are running costs and repair bills etc (timing chain costs in excess of £1000)
As has been said above sometimes you are better off sticking to what you know is a good car and you can bet that 80% of the vxrs for sale have been thrashed

I think your budget is more than enough to get BIG gains from this engine. Check out this "for sale" thread for an example:
    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...5-6-tuning-kit

The parts are sold now, but it gives you an idea of what you can get for your money.

Maptun do a full stage 3 for around £1600 - £1700 so as Rebellion as just posted easier cheaper sources out there.
