What did you do to your Vectra/Signum today?

Heard a scuffing noise from OSF brake along with slightly less braking performance, so stripped them down for an inspection. Those 314mm calipers are massive lol

It was just general crap in the brakes catching on the heat shield, and it would appear that new brakes are required on the front - piston side pad was down to about 3mm left, and both pads had started to crack down the middle. So that explains the worsening brake performance...

I'll also need to sort out the pattering/rattle from the front, checked the springs and they're okay, both seated correctly. Drop links were replaced 2 months ago, so I'm thinking ARB bushes or top mounts? Got new ARB mounts in the garage ready to go on, fingers crossed that's where the noise is coming from

Sunday is a day of rest for me, in fact any day which ends with the letter Y is a day of rest
But I finished putting the car back together yesterday after fitting this (a reversing camera attached to the cid)

and it was good!!

Visited the Vec in hospital, almost all done but heat shield cannot be made to easily come off as its radius-ed so cant easily pop off or on anyway. Need the shield really as the extra radiant heat wont be good at all.
So decided to run engine up to check for leaks and double check the weld on the now empty precat then move rad forward a bit to install the shield as designed. Found the right side rad hose with some damage in the wall so need a new one of those

Decided the old exhaust looked naff under the vxr diffuser so fitted a new one

Tested all my park pilot wiring, seems okay, must have a dodgy sensor off to the scrappy I go!

Pulled away from the lights sharpish and thought 'ooh clutch is slipping' until I changed into second and the same happened and then the tyres started squealing. ........ childish but fun.



Yes I'll buy a new ' box if i need one but it was only once!

I had a similar experience with a car full of people yesterday, big dirty wheel spin out of a t junction.... Love it!
