Unhappy Noise from engine. May be high oil pressure.

Hi, I ve got vauxhall vectra sri 07 plate. Recently a light on the dashboard i.e car with a spanner came on. I took it to the garage and they did diagnostics on it but couldnt find the fault. The engine is making quite a loud noise so they recommended me to change the camp belt as the car has done 51000 miles. So i did but no luck. The garage has told me now dat it could be oil pressure as it should be 1.4 but mine is 4. something. Now he has asked me to take it to vauxhall tech. What does it mean?? Is it serious?? Please help.

You'll have to give us a small clue as to which engine you have...

Sounds like a blockage in the oil ways, Something will be starved of oil,
Looks like an engine strip or replacement.

    Thumbs up johnboy ab

try camshaft solenoid valves these cause pressure changes and loud camshaft noise. cost 100 pair of e bay done mine twice 130,000 miles on clock. noise goes away above 2000 revs is a pointer to this fault they clog up with gunk.

    what johnboyab said above

have a look at this post
    It's the VVT mechanism.
I have a thread open about it now. One of the the servos have broken. Do not run the car without them, they starve the VVT of oil (the clacking noise), and you'll end up with broken pulleys and bits of metal all over the place. get a new set from VX and bang them in. Takes about 10 mins with the right sized socket... I think they cost about 80-100 for the part.

But do NOT drive the car.

have a read of this post part numbers here as well
