Default Air recirc servo fixed for free!

Anyone else tried this? I had the clicking sound from under the dash so I removed the air recirc motor thing. I wanted to see what was inside so I opened it up and couldn't believe I would have to spend £70 just because one tiny plastic tooth have broken off. I decided to fix it by gently levelling the area where the tooth was missing and made a new tooth from a piece of old toothbrush handle which I glued in place with Araldite (about as strong an adhesive as you can get)
I made the new piece oversize, placed it on the
glue with tweezers, shaped it when the glue had fully cured, job done!

The picture shows the new piece before I shaped it with a nail file, dead easy!

does anyone know the part number for this?
My air recirc just clicks when pressed.
    Is it hard to change?

Don't know the part number but it's reasonably easy if you don't have fingers like sausages. The really hard part I found was getting the screws back in and enough light around the area. Also a good idea to make a note or take a photo so it all goes back in the right place.

the hardest part is getting those screws out... must need a tiny torx screwdriver!

The most secure way to repair this cog, would be to weld a piece of plastic in, of the same material, and then file it to shape.

I have never found araldite to be that tough...you would at least need a good plastic glue compound.

I totaly agree with you on that one Robsey.

My Recic servo packed up last month and I too found this thread in the hope that I could do the same but found that two of the cogs had broken on mine, so will either go out and buy another or see If I can locate one at a local scrappy (considering the price of them)
